Many of us
remember the "Horgan War" from 2004 to 2008, When Joe Horgan set up a
concrete crusher behind Allied Concrete and went into business. He
operated without a permit till a complaint was made, then obtained a
permit under possible pretense, answering "NO" to the question of
whether the operation would increase air pollution. Over the next few years almost a half million dollars were spent in the battle to have the permit revoked. (unsuccessfully). Finally, a compromise was made between Horgan Bros. and Upper Gwynedd Township. Now Delaware Valley Concrete wants to set up shop at the site of the Allied Concrete plant. Thankfully, Len Perrone and the Board of Commissioners are once again on the side of West Point! |
